Enable or Disable Network Discovery
If you have no use of Network Discovery on your computer then, in that case, you can turn off the Network Discovery using Settings in Windows 10 or via the Control Panel or by using the Comand Prompt in Windows 10.
1. Using Windows Setting
To turn off the Network Discovery using Settings in Windows 10 you need to follow the steps below
Step-1: First you need to click on the Start menu and here click on the Setting button.
Step-2: Now in the setting window click on the Network & Internet option.
Step-3: Under Network & the Internet you have to select the Dial-Up (or Ethernet) option which is available on the left pane of the screen.
Step-4: Once you click on the Dial-up option then on the right side of the page select the network which you are using and then click on the Advanced Options button.
Step-5: Once you click on the button a new page will open and on this page, under Make this PC discoverable option turn off the toggle switch by sliding it to the left side.
Step-6: To enable this option you just have to slide the toggle switch to the right side and the Network Discovery on your computer will be ON.

If you are using the wi-fi connection on your computer then to turn off the Network Discovery using Settings in Windows 10 follow the steps below.
Step-1: Click on the Start menu and here click on the Setting button.
Step-2: Now in the setting window click on the Network & Internet option.
Step-3: Under Network & the Internet you have to select the Wi-Fi option which is available on the left pane of the screen.
Step-4: Now to manage your network select the Wi-Fi connection which is available on your computer and then click on the Properties option.
Step-5: Once your Properties option is open now you have to turn the slider to the Off position under the Make this PC discoverable setting.
2. Using Control Panel
Step-1: First, you need to open the Control Panel, as you know there are number of ways to launch Control Panel such as
- You can directly right-click on the Start button and then select the Control Panel option
- Click on the search box type Control Panel and then select the Control Panel option which is available at the top of the list.
You can use any of the ways to open the Control Panel.
Step-2: Once the Control panel window is open here click on the All control panel items.
Step-3: After that list of items which are available in the control panel will be appeared on the screen and from this list you have to choose Network and Sharing Center option.
Step-4: Once you click on the option a new page will be open and here you have to click on the Advanced Sharing settings option.
Step-5: Now under network discovery section uncheck the check box which is right under the option Turn on Network Discovery. You have to uncheck the check box for both Private as well as Public/Guest profiles.
Step-6: Once you finished the above process now save all the setting by click on the Save button and then exit.
3. Using CMD
Enabling and disabling Network discovery using command prompt is an easy task. For this first, you have to open the command prompt. To open the command prompt click on the start menu now in the search box type Command Prompt and then select the option to open it.

Once the Command Prompt is open now run the following command
- To turn off Network Discovery run the following command:
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”Network Discovery” new enable=No
- To turn on Network Discovery run the following command
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”Network Discovery” new enable=Yes
By running these command you can successfully disable or enable the Network Discovery onWindows 10.
